My better half!

So...he finally needed some photos for work....and he let me have a go of it! Of course the day we decided to take the photos the weather was terrible...blowing, snowing, freezing! So we tried a few at home and these were my favorites. The lighting wasn't great but it was still fun to see what we could come up with. I am still going to try again next week when it warms up but what do you think of these? He thinks the first one is too posed and a little cheesy with the hand...but I love his expression. Vote for your favorite!

Nice pictures!

I like the second and third one best. I like the angle of the second one and the third one says doctor to me.

Where's the smile? He's got a great smile, and I like going to doctors with great smiles :) I say try some more with bigger smiles. I agree with Nate on the cheese of the first (sorry) but I do like the composition, having his torso & hand in the shot (instead of on his chin, that hand should be tucked behind the other elbow because the watch and wedding ring look good in front). I do like that one the most without the hand on the chin and with a bigger smile. Pull the chair further away from the wall (chair rail) but I'd get rid of the chair altogether (distracting from the subject). The 2nd pic has a good angle except that one eye looks bigger than the other with the top frame of his glasses and his button is pulling his shirt. Not a fan of the crop on the last pic, but I like the angle on his eyes better (sweet job on no glare in the glasses). Gosh, I sound so negative, but that's not what I mean. You said you wanted to know what we thought and you'll take more pics later when there's better weather :) I'd like to see #1 without the hand-on-chin but with a bigger smile :) Nate's the BEST back doctor... woot woot!!!

Shannon,
Thank you for piping in! I love looking at these through different eyes! He doesn't like his teeth in pictures....hence the "non" smiley pictures. And that dumb chair rail....I have cloned it out but can't get a good look. I shot these with my 50mm back against the window and I knew I was chopping those hands to bits. Can't wait to get my 24-70L....
I like your ideas and might have to send you my 2nd batch to see what you think. Because you know his personality....and photography...it would really help!
Thanks....we miss you guys!

WOW NATE! The softer side of you finally comes out! :) You look great! Jen, I REALLY like the second one! It's down to earth, but still says DOCTOR!

#3. :) It looks most like him. Tell him that I'll do one of my Nate for him that looks just like your Nate's #1. They can laugh together on the golf course. :) It's a great expression - but that hand ... ;)

Send 'em my way :) I'll help any way I can! I think you're totally ON to something and can't wait to see your do-overs.
